History

It was opened in 1963 under the name of Health School under the Ministry of Health and Social Aid, to train Village Midwife and Nurse Assistant, after primary school for 3 years. In the 1979-1980 academic year, it was converted into a 4-year Health Vocational High School based on Secondary School, 2 years between 1980-1982. It was renamed as Midwifery Department in 1982-1983 academic year. In the 1996-1997 academic year, as per the protocol signed between the Ministry of Health and the Council of Higher Education, Health High Schools were transformed into 4-year Health High Schools and started to accept students in the 1997-1998 academic year. It has been affiliated to Siirt University, one of the 17 newly established universities, and has been allocated to the School of Health under the Rectorate of Siirt University with the letter of Siirt Governorship Revenue Office National Real Estate Directorate dated 20/03/2008 and numbered B.07.4.DEF.056.06//56010101089/292. .

With the decision of the President dated 08.05.2020 and numbered 2504 and in accordance with the additional article 30 of the Law No. 2809 on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions, the School of Health was closed and the Faculty of Health Sciences was established within our University in the same decision.
